Local Review: Spangles French Dip Steakburger (Limited Time Only)

As a service to all of our Kansas friends, it is time for another local review. We have reviewed an item at Spangles before. If you want background on Spangles, check it out here. For those not familiar, Spangles is known in these parts (what are we in 1890?) as having some unique takes on burgers. That is certainly true with Spangles’ newest creation. The French Dip Steakburger is served with French onion au jus sauce. The burger comes with two black Angus steakburgers, melted swiss cheese, onion rings, and a toasted sourdough bun. This is certainly a unique take…

Review: Cracker Barrel Sharp Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese (New)

Cracker Barrel brand cheese has been around since 1954. Just recently, the company has started making macaroni and cheese. You see where this is going… First of all, let us say that this is not the same Cracker Barrel as Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. That place is different. Confused yet? Have another beer… This Cracker Barrel is now owned by Kraft. So Kraft has pushed it to the next level by offering the new mac and cheese. There are a bunch of flavors available. Sharp Cheddar, Sharp White Cheddar, Cheddar Havarti, and Sharp Cheddar & Bacon are available, all…

Review: Burger King Whopper Dog (New)

Burger King introduced its new Grilled Dogs back in February. If you don’t remember, check out our review here. Now, BK has introduced a new Grilled Dog to the lineup. The Whopper Dog has arrived. This stands to reason. The Whopper is Burger King’s signature menu item. So, making a Whopper into a hot dog seems like a natural progression. We suppose. But is it really a good idea? The Fewd Snobs take the hit for ‘ya here, people. Because we’re drunk…um…good guys. BK describes the Whopper Dog as, “… flame-grilled hot dog made with 100% beef topped with lettuce,…

Review: Papa John’s Pepperoni Rolls (New)

In the year that we have been doing Fewd Snobs, we have never reviewed anything from Papa John’s. This makes us very sad. Full disclosure…we are fans of Papa John’s. It is Denny’s favorite pizza chain by far, and Herman likes it too.  So, when we saw the new Pepperoni Rolls, we finally had an excuse to write about the place. Now, don’t think that we give positive reviews just because we like a place. We may be drunk, but we’re not stupid. Well…not really anyway. We know good from bad. If you have been reading any of our reviews,…

Review: Taco Bell Beefy Crunch Burrito/Cheesy Double Beef Burrito

This is an interesting case. Once upon a time, Taco Bell had two burritos. One was the Beefy Crunch Burrito. The other was the Cheesy Double Beef Burrito. Evidently, these suckers had a huge following. Then, Taco Bell took them away. This didn’t sit well with people. There was a movement to get them back. A Facebook campaign was started. There was the #BeefyCrunchMovement hashtag. There was a lot of hooting and hollering. Apparently losing a couple of burritos is a big deal. There’s more to it than this, but we’re not reporters. Google it. Taco Bell listened to the…

Review: Baja Blast/Pitch Black Mountain Dew (Limited Time Only)

DEWcision 2016. Nope, it’s not political. It’s a fight between two flavors of Mountain Dew. Baja Blast has been sold exclusively in Taco Bells since 2004. It has had limited runs in stores, also. Pitch Black was released in 2004 to tie in with Halloween. It was a limited time only deal. It has also hit shelves a time or two since then. Now, Mountain Dew is taking a vote. The winner will end up on store shelves permanently. Some decisions are very important, you see. Or something. The side of the bottles indicate to pick a flavor, hashtag your…

Review: Subway Thick-Cut Carved Turkey & Bacon Sandwich (New/Limited Time Only)

Subway is at it again. It is trying to make sandwiches that don’t suck. How enthralling. Recall our earlier review on Subway’s Rotisserie-Style Chicken Sandwich. Subway seems to be trying to jump on the “healthy” (read trendy) craze by introducing antibiotic-free slop. And no artificial preservatives (in the case of this turkey). Swell. Because rotted turkey that has been sitting at Subway too long tastes better, evidently. Now, Subway has introduced “carved” turkey. This must be some kind of piss poor attempt at competing with the trendy places like Panera Bread. Oh my. To us, this is basically acknowledging that…
