Local Review: Spangles French Dip Steakburger (Limited Time Only)

As a service to all of our Kansas friends, it is time for another local review. We have reviewed an item at Spangles before. If you want background on Spangles, check it out here. For those not familiar, Spangles is known in these parts (what are we in 1890?) as having some unique takes on burgers. That is certainly true with Spangles’ newest creation. The French Dip Steakburger is served with French onion au jus sauce. The burger comes with two black Angus steakburgers, melted swiss cheese, onion rings, and a toasted sourdough bun. This is certainly a unique take…

Article: Our Picks for Kansas Craft Beer Week

Kansas Craft Beer Week is here! Yes, an entire week devoted to beer. Sounds pretty good to us. Before we go any further, we know what you are thinking. “You guys hate craft beer! It’s for true snobs!” You are right in your thinking. We generally don’t like craft beer. Except, it isn’t really that we dislike craft beer itself. We hate what it stands for. Craft beer is used as a status symbol for millennials. You know the type. We have gotten into this before, so for the sake of this article, that’s as far as we are going…

Local: What The Hell Is Going Up at Harry and Webb (Update)

The mystery is solved! We previously wrote about a new building at Harry and Webb in Wichita.  There is another building going up next to it.  Yet, there were no signs or any indications at all about what these buildings were going to be. It was driving us insane. It crossed our minds to stop and ask the workers what they were building.  Sadly, the day we took the picture, it was raining.  No workers.  Failing. Although we call ourselves detectives, too much detective work would take away from our beer time.  Sherlock Holmes, we ain’t. So, we didn’t go…

Local: What The Hell Is Going Up at Harry and Webb?

There is a new building going up in Wichita on South Webb Road near Harry and Webb.  Take a look in the pic above. This is bugging the hell out of us.  We pass by all the time, and we don’t know what it is.  There are no signs up.  In fact, there is another new building going up next to it.  No signs there, either.  AHH! The corner of Harry and Webb is loaded with businesses.  Dillon’s (grocery store), QuikTrip (gas station), McDonald’s, Subway, Walgreens, Little Caesar’s, a liquor store, and a bar are just some of the businesses…

Review: Freddy’s Fish & Chips Basket

It’s that time of year again where every food place has a fish sandwich.  Some are here for only a limited time.  Others are permanent menu items, but are being featured.  Whatever your reasons for partaking, now is a good time for some fish. We love fish.  So, we are pretty happy with fish being everywhere.  We came across Freddy’s Fish & Chips Basket, and our next review was born. Freddy’s full name is Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.  It was born in our hometown of Wichita, KS.  It is a pretty new place; it opened up in 2002.  Freddy’s…

Local Review: Spangles Tomato Soup With Double Decker Grilled Cheese (Limited Time Only)

We haven’t done a local review in a while.  When we set this site up not that long ago, we did want to put a focus on some local stuff, too.  So, the time has come… Spangles is a fast food chain based in our hometown of Wichita, Kansas.  Spangles has 27 locations throughout Kansas (14 in Wichita, 4 in Topeka, 2 in Hutchinson, 2 in Salina, and 1 each in El Dorado, Park City, Andover, Derby, and Emporia) according to the Spangles entry on Wikipedia.  Spangles is mainly a burger joint with a 1950s theme.  They also feature a…

Local Review: Dog-N-Shake

I’ve been looking forward to this one.  This will be the first local place we review on Fewd Snobs, and I think it’s the perfect choice.  If you are a native Wichitan, then you are most likely familiar with Dog-N-Shake.  As the name suggests, they are famous for their hot dogs and shakes.  They are by no means gourmet, but I also do not think of them as “fast food,” or at least not the kind we’re used to.  If you’ve ever had the pleasure of eating there, you know what I mean.  For those of you who haven’t, here…
