What Herman Made: Corned Beef and Cabbage

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Snobs! I have a special What Herman Made for just this occasion: Corned Beef and Cabbage. Also, the recipe is so simple you could probably still make it after sucking down 4 or 5 green beers. Winning! Corned beef and cabbage is a pretty traditional meal dating back a bunch of years. How many you ask? How the hell should I know. What do I look like, a historian? All I know is that I have some Irish lineage in my family and the stuff is pretty damn tasty. It is also considered peasant food, which means it…

What Herman Made: Homemade Chipotleez!

Hello Snobs! Time for the latest installment of What Herman Made, Homemade Chipotleez! I know what you’re thinking. What the hell is Homemade Chipotleez? Well I’ll tell you, but a little back story first. As you may have guessed, Denny and I are not big fans of Chipotle, the uppity restaurant chain famous for their organic, GMO-free, all-rice, no meat, overpriced, sorry excuse for burritos. What Herman Made: Aged Eggnog (Updated)

This article has been updated with Herman’s thoughts after letting the eggnog age for 3 weeks. See the additional notes at the end. Hello, Snobs. Herman here. With Thanksgiving wrapping up I thought it would be a good time to start thinking about Christmas and the fewd and booze related to such. In fact, I have a perfect recipe for What Herman Made, and since it takes a couple weeks to sit, the first week or two of December is just right to make it. Aged Eggnog. Personally I had never heard of “aged” eggnog before and was definitely intrigued….

Review: Heritage Farm Smoked Sausage

Here we have fewd in the simplest of forms:  meat that is chopped and emulsified, squeezed into a tube shape, and smoked. Simple? Yes. Tasty? Absolutely. Cheap? You better believe it.  If you aren’t familiar with Kroger’s new in-house brand Heritage Farms, you should check it out, or at the very least check out the smoked sausage.  These things are killer, and they will only set you back less than four bucks for 14 jumbo sized links.  They can be found at any Kroger brand store.  Wichita happens to be loaded with Dillons (our local Kroger chain).  So they are…

Local Review: Dog-N-Shake

I’ve been looking forward to this one.  This will be the first local place we review on Fewd Snobs, and I think it’s the perfect choice.  If you are a native Wichitan, then you are most likely familiar with Dog-N-Shake.  As the name suggests, they are famous for their hot dogs and shakes.  They are by no means gourmet, but I also do not think of them as “fast food,” or at least not the kind we’re used to.  If you’ve ever had the pleasure of eating there, you know what I mean.  For those of you who haven’t, here…
